| The DemoMobile conference, which usually highlights advanced mobile and wireless technologies, went low-tech this week with demonstrations of wireless connectivity technology designed to operate on dial-up connections and in the absence of external electrical power. DropZone networks demonstrated multiprotocol wireless access point with a built-in application server, designed to run on solar power. The killer app for the technology might well prove to be providing broadband data networking or voice-over-IP in rural areas of India or China, said company CEO David Waxman.
